Indian Cricket Team and its Golden Era

In this era where we are living, we could arguably say one of the best phases of Indian cricket team. So, what makes this team the best, is it Kohli’s aggression? Dhoni’s Calmness? Fearless Youngsters? Yes, it is a mixture of all. Thanks to IPL for finding new talents year and year again.

Who would have ever thought Indian team has grown this far?

We all still live fresh in our memory during 90’s where we glue in front of the TV until Sachin stays in the crease. Once he is dismissed early, we all know where the match is heading towards. But, in this modern era, you can name each and every individual as match winners on their own. If you can’t win matches on your own you will not be in the current Indian team.

Remember the Nidahas trophy final? Dinesh Karthik played one of the best innings of his life (29 off 8). Though he is in his form of life, with recent successful captain stints in IPL with KKR team too, he still remains on the bench. Such was our bench strength and we can proudly say that Indian team is so strong enough that an India A team can easily beat full strength Bangladesh or Srilanka. Kudos to all those who gave their heart and soul for the development of the game.

And, you all know where it started?

In 2000, a news which shook the whole nation and hit viral around the world. Match-fixing scandal by Former Indian team captain Mohammad Azharuddin, Indian cricket team has never been such low before and nobody gave a chance that team will come out of such period.

In came the man Sourav Ganguly who is affectionately called as Dada, and took the team to different heights. Who would forget the Natwest series 2002 final, Mohammed Kaif played match-winning innings; Dada took his shirt off and announced the arrival of the Indian team. And again, he took team India to finals in 2003 world cup where Australia emerged winners. It was his aggressive style of captaincy and the way he led the team in front made his standout and he still remains a role model for many of others.
